Colorado Rockies vs Pittsburgh Pirates

It's the fifth straight road game for Colorado, on a 1-5 slide. The offense is 24th in runs scored, 22nd in on-base percentage, 18th in slugging, and last in steals, while the pitching is last in ERA (5.79) and WHIP, plus second to last in the pen (5.29 ERA). The Rockies have lost four straight starts made by Austin Gomber (4.50 ERA), who has a 6.30 ERA on the road. Colorado is 7-33 on the road in day games, plus 13-51 on the road versus righty starters. Martin Perez starts for the Pirates and he has a 2.86 ERA while allowing only 11 earned runs in 34 2/3 innings pitched. Pittsburgh won his last start 4-3 in 10 innings against San Francisco on Saturday when he gave up one unearned run in six innings. The Pittsburgh bullpen has nine saves and a 1.28 WHIP this year. Cal Quantrill is 0-3 with a 5.34 ERA and he allowed six runs in five innings his last outing against Houston in a 12-4 loss. Despite getting shut out yesterday, the offense has still scored 49 runs over the last eight games. Pittsburgh is coming back to earth on a 1-7 slide more in line with last year's 62-100 campaign. Vince Velasquez went on the 15-day disabled list so they have to bring up 24-year-old Luis Ortiz from Triple-A Indianapolis.
